ABOUT AMANDA

Bio

My name is Amanda, I am a business owner, neurodivergent creative thinker, wife, and busy mum of two daughters. Up until 2014 I had been working for other companies; In the corporate world for 15 years consulting & sales, then proceeded to run a successful business managing a large team of people. Whilst I enjoyed my job, I noticed how incredibly stressed I had become. Losing weight, insomnia and turning to a poor diet because I simply “didn’t have time,” sugar kicks for energy boosts to get me through my day, progressively not looking after my wellness started to affect my relationships, homelife & mental health. I turned to a regular yoga practice in desperation, after being advised that it can help manage stress levels! I fell in love instantly with how it made me feel when I left each class, it was not just the movement in my body, but also the sense of calm that it created, I felt like I would gain head & energetic space after each class, it bought clarity, sense of grounding and connection with my inner knowing. It truly became a medicine, so I decided to study the discipline of yoga. Not to teach, but because it became apparent that this practice was improving my overall lifestyle choices, I was curious how I could learn more, deciding I did not want to live without it. I became well & found a sense of purpose again, thus leading me to organically start my own business & build my own studio here in the UK.

Amanda Turner Yoga

The discipline of yoga is so much more than fancy postures that are often seen & misconceived on social media.  Yoga means to ‘unite’ the practices of meditation, physical exercises/postures, breathing techniques, eating compassionately & connection both interoceptively & exteroceptive. It teaches us to be conscious of how we treat ourselves & other relationships with kindness; work, personal & especially with ourselves.  The Western world has adopted some of these teachings because we crave balance and equilibrium if we are to survive in the ever-changing, fast-paced environment that we are currently exposed too. There is not a single human being that will not benefit from at least one of the limbs of yoga, you just require guidance to understand what they are and how, an open mind to use new ways and strategies in a world where we are continuously digitally connected, yet more disconnected to our authentic selves than ever.

I am passionate about supporting individuals, and corporate companies in their wellness.  Whether it is in a group setting, private class, facilitating workshops, in person and online.  I am most honoured to see the transformation in individuals when hosting retreats over several days – these particularly immersive retreats are an opportunity to unravel, release old stories and carve a path for a new way forward.  I host retreats here in the UK & abroad, working both independently & collectively with other exceptional practitioners and coaches.

I have had the privilege of training & guidance from some incredible people within the wellness sector and yoga community: From Hatha practices, Restorative, Transformational Breathwork, Self-Development Coaching & continuously attending extensive ‘Functional Anatomy’ courses with the likes of Doctor Yogi, Matthew Huy and Jambo Dragon.

Self-study is essential to my growth and ability to be a better teacher to my students. During the 2021 pandemic I furthered my study certifying in an intensive course in Yoga Therapy for Insomnia & Sleep Recovery with Lisa Sanfilippo Therapy

In 2022 I undertook studies in Somatic Movement for Recovery & Trauma with Internationally renowned Yoga Therapist, Charlotte Watts, I have found wonders in this healing modality and integrate this regularly into my classes and have continued this by deepening my knowledge with a further 100 hours of training in 2023.

Certified through Petra Coveney for Yoga to support Perimenopause & Menopause.  I now run regular programmes for women, collaborating with doctors and other professionals to help support women through this transition.

Because of the powerful impact, importance and appreciation that connection can achieve, in 2023 I studied with Author and Elder, Donna Lancaster in Holding Circle in community. Enabling me to hold sacred space through healing rituals, support the human experience navigate beginnings, endings and hold refuge in the power circle.

I welcome all opportunities to learn and grow in this life and to share my teachings with the wider community. To step into the possibility of ‘Being rather than Doing,’ holding a safe environment for those that seek a nugget of peace from the surrounding chaos. To teach individuals that they can truly source these moments inside themselves if they just stop, pause, and give oneself life’s greatest precious gift, time.
